Back from FINISHING my FABM presentation and Dining workshop yesterday.
Fabm Presentation was kinda ok? I just kept wanting to crack a joke cos the
atmosphere was sooooo uncool.
Dining workshop! Wahaha.
Amy Chur was the one teaching us again.
I think she has quite alot of charisma haha.
After all, she IS an Image Consultant.
We learnt all the different type of cutlery
And how to eat pasta, soup, and bread.
ALSO, to deshell a prawn in 2 surgical steps LOL.
Really 2 surgical steps leh. Yay more prawns for me next time.
Then came the dinner!
In the end, we didnt really practise alot of what we learnt,
But the dinner was somewhat satisfactory haha.
First Course
Ocean Trout Sashimi
with Sesame Wafu DressingI really liked the Sesame Wafu Dressing! Like soy sauce and sesame oil together. And the sashimi was really fresh as well! Just hate the fact i need to eat the vege (It has some weird sauce on it) The service was so good, when minyi said she doesnt eat raw fish, the manager (or at least i think he is) took her plate and went to ask the chef to cook it. LOL.
Second Course
Field Mushroom Soup
with Truffle oilCant really taste the presence of truffle oil. Or rather, i never knew the taste of truffle. The soup is REALLY good. I loved it alot hahaa. But had to eat it scooping outwards so kind of weird doing it. The 'bowl' shape is really unique too haha.
Fast Facts
Heard from wenbin that truffles are found in the field and can only be found with trained pigs. And truffles are REALLY expensive. Saw in the news that a 1kg piece of truffle was recently auctioned off for $200,000.
Third Course
Passionfruit Sorbet
Dont be fooled (or complain) by the mere quantity of it. It is EXTREMELY strong. One small piece of it can already sour you out. I think it's to wash out all the tastes you had previously to prepare you for your Main Course. The cup is reallly cold i think theres like cooling gel at the base.
Fourth Course
Seared Seabass
Like hello?!?! Why did i choose this? I should have chose the Lamb Shanks instead. This is like...a piece of somewhat normal fish on top of mashed potato in a sea of tomato soup with capisium, cucumber, carrot and onion condiments. And the mash potato kept dissolving in the soup so i guess it's just fish in cream of tomato soup.I feel it's the worse part of the dinner, personally (Although i know many agree). But i loved how the two tomatos are joined together HAHA. Will gladly use it as a christmas tree ornament.
Sixth Course
Leatherwood Honey Panna Cotta
With Blood Orange, Nut Powder, and Strawberry.
I ate the chocolate stick first. HAHA. I think it's supposed to be eaten with the Panna Cotta to give it a chocolate taste. The Blood Orange was so perculiar. I have never seen anything like it! But it still tastes like orange. The Panna Cotta was great! It has this texture that doesnt qualify it to be an ice cream, nor a pudding, nor a beancurd. Haha. It's like cube-ified honey custard.? The Panna Cotta at the restaurant i worked in last time wasn't even that thick and 'mushy'.
Ohyeaa this is the red and white wine. I just had a sip of each. Gave the rest to Oliver. I think he is quite determined to master drinking. LOL
Overall, i had a great time. Do you know the actual cost of everything if it wasn't subsidised is 80++?
