; Where are they?
I don't know why I'm always online. Sitting by chat messengers like MSN and my phone...waiting for people to talk to me...(Knowing that they are probably doing the same)

I mean back then..MSN was like the only cost-effective place you can talk to your friends. It is almost the ONLY place you can find your friends. Smses cost like S$0.05 if you don't have the mobile plans that offer 1000 free at most. (Yes I don't find it enough sometimes.) And i'm the kind who religiously tracks the amount of smses I send so I don't exceed 1000 a pay a bomb. Really tough limiting yourself so i just vomit everything out on MSN.

Then I kinda got addicted to MSN, everyday i'll be there..starting random conversations with people and trying to be a good friend (hah) crapping around and talking..I'm probably the only person you can find online who replies like IMMEDIATELY.

As time passed I realized it can get quite awkward and irritating to always be the same dude popping up on people's windows...or rather..you don't know if they are thinking you are, which is more disturbing. You want to talk, but you don't know if the other person is waiting for you to talk or wants you to shut up.

Almost simultaneously people start having this syndrome that makes them really slow at replying (I think its called being busy) which really makes me seem like a fool, with all their windows open, cycling between the tabs to see who has replied.

Ok it kinda sounds sad, but...well...back then real life conversations don't work for me. MSN was this little protective screen I had between me and people so that I won't feel them staring.

Now...you just don't know where your friends are?! Facebook, Whatsapp, MSN, Twitter, FormSpring, BBM where are they at?

No one is even on MSN anymore..averages around 2 people whom you actually talk to. And the other chat options are so MOBILE you are even more afraid of being seen as an intrusion.

And it being MOBILE, it is OKAY to suddenly not reply for extended amounts of time because...well...NEWSFLASH I am actually currently busy living my life right now, while talking to you on my MOBILE phone, so i'll get back to you when I'm done?

Then hours later he/she will stumble upon the unfinished conversation and go "heh I think it kinda feels like the convo's ended, he/she's probably busy doing his/her stuff." *close*

....Is Social Media making us more socially awkward?
